PROGRESS IN REVERSE-PROCESS APPLICATION TO CATALYTIC INCINERATION PROBLEMS

摘要
A new catalytic reverse-process for purification of industrial waste gases from organic contaminants is proposed. Periodic reversals of the gas flow through the catalyst bed forms a slowly creeping thermal wave. Its maximum temperature could greatly exceed the inlet temperature even at rather small adiabatic heat rise, without additional energy supply. The average degree of conversion of impurities per cycle is total. The influence of the catalyst's diffusivity and conductivity, kinetic parameters, inlet gas temperature, catalyst to inert matter volume ratio and other process parameters was analyzed numerically. The experimental results obtained both in a laboratory and in full-scale reactors are described well by the mathematical model of unsteady-state processes in a fixed bed of catalyst. Commercial reverse-process plants are applied to incineration of high-concentrated and low-concentrated gases.
