SYNTHESIS OF NEW 6-COORDINATE COMPLEXES OF SILICON(IV)

摘要
The synthesis of new six-coordinate tris-bidentate complexes of silicon(IV) is reported. Two methods of synthesis have been used, the normal procedure using SiCl4, and a novel method using Si(OEt)4 in the presence of a strong acid. This new route has shown to be preferential for making such compounds in general. The complexes have been characterized by H-1 and Si-29 NMR spectrometry in DMSO, elemental analysis and FAB+ mass spectrometry. Facial and meridional isomerism was normally slow on the NMR time scale and in some cases the rates of isomerism were recorded. Complexes derived from the 3-hydroxypyridin-4-ones were found to be water stable.
