Proceeding from the knowledge about the viscosity of wood glues in various fields of application it is shown that by increasing the alkali component (NaOH) in the synthesis formulation, the time required for the synthesis will be prolonged, by the increase of formaldehyde component, this period of time will be shortened. However, besides the change of viscosity, modifying the synthetic recipe results in a variation of other properties of the lignin-phenol-glues and of the wood based materials made by these glues, as well.
