摘要：

Misinterpretation of reliability data appears to be widespread. This is often due to imprecision regarding both the question being asked of the data, and of the assumptions that are made in the analysis. A particular problem occurs in the lack of clarity as to what is meant by the term 'failure rate'. Some of the more common pitfalls are illustrated in the analysis of a simple set of lifetime data.
