摘要：

A previously published criterion for matching is based on the relative similarities of individual species within and between communities. Their solution is most useful when the number of species is the same in each community and when matching occurs with respect to a continuous variable. A more general criterion for matching is suggested, also considering the implications of matching for the presence of certain interspecific interactions. The author discusses why matching might be infrequent in nature even if convergence between communities is common. -from Author
