摘要
Fast‐atom bombardment tandem mass spectrometry negative‐ion analysis of the [MH]− ions of the cis and trans isomer pairs of 9‐hexadecenoic and 9‐octadecenoic acid with a four sector mass spectrometer, reveals distinctions between the cis and trans isomers of each pair. The definitive fragmentation is at the bond allylic to the double bond in the distal position on the chain. Fragmentation at this site involves both remote‐charge‐site fragmentation and a cleavage fragmentation. Copyright © 1990 John Wiley & Sons Limited
