摘要
Excision of the 1st inflorescence at different stages of development, emasculation of the anthers before anthesis, and excision of 3/4 of the entire root system at transplanting significantly enhanced the growth and fruiting of the axillary shoot located directly below the 1st inflorescence of L. esculentum Mill. cv. ''Fireball''. Replacement of the inflorescence with a combination of IAA, GA4/7 and N6-benzyladenine at 5 .times. 10-4 M concentration in lanolin delayed the time for the axillary shoot to attain a length of 20 cm. Enhancement of growth and fruiting of the axillary shoot below the 1st inflorescence was attributed to a greater availability of assimilate.
