摘要
The electrooxidation of ethanol in aqueous solution was carried out on the three low index planes of platinum single crystals, both in alkaline and acid medium. Study of the adsorbed intermediates resulting from the adsorption of ethanol in acid medium shows that they are the same as in the case of methanol but with a smaller coverage. The electrode coverage by adsorbed poisoning species appears small in alkaline medium, particularly with ethanol. The low index planes, except Pt (100), of platinum single crystals exhibit an activity greater than that of polycrystalline platinum in alkaline medium. This behaviour is different from that of methanol described previously. © 1990.
