HETEROGENEOUS DISTRIBUTION OF DIARYLPROPANE STRUCTURES IN SPRUCE LIGNINS

摘要
The relative distribution of carbon-carbon and diaryl ether condensed bonds in spruce lignins was investigated by thioacidolysis followed by Raney nickel desulphuration. GC and GC-MS analyses of the main lignin-derived dimeric degradation products revealed that condensed bonds were not homogeneously distributed within lignin fractions isolated after ball milling, solvent extraction and water precipitation. The beta-1 diarylpropane lignin structures, whose relative importance is still an open question, were comparatively more abundant in the water-soluble lignin fragments, associated with hemicellulosic constituents in the fractionation procedure.
