摘要
This study was a replication and extension of the work originally done by Jackson and Dunn (1988) and later replicated by McGuire et al. (1989) on a model of leisure decision-making. The intent of the current investigation was to provide further confirmation of the model, and to clarify the factors that differentiate between and among individuals who fall within the model's postulated categories of leisure behavior quitters, replacers, adders and continuers. Data for this investigation were derived from the 1990 Manitoba General Survey on Recreation (N = 1209). The results of the present study confirmed the categories of leisure behavior described by Jackson and Dunn; while concurring with McGuire et al. that the percentage of respondents varied within each group. A discriminant analysis indicated that at least five variables were useful for distinguishing between and among individuals in the replacer, quitter, adder or continuer categories. These variables were age, years of formal education, leisure attitude, leisure satisfaction and volume of recreation participation.
