摘要：

Niobic acid contains a considerable amount of water, nevertheless it shows a high acidicity on the surface corresponding to the acidity of 70% sulfuric acid. The unusual solid acid exhibits not only a high activity and selectivity but also a remarkably good stability as a catalyst for the reactions in which water molecules participate or are liberated. The structure, surface properties, and catalytic behavior of niobic acid are summarized.
