摘要
The effect of non-linearities in elastomeric-material dampers used to quiet torsional oscillations of internal-combustion engines shafts is investigated. The method of multiple scales is used to solve the equations for the case of primary resonance. Steady-state solutions are obtained and their stability examined. A relationship that relates the elastomer properties (for stable solutions) and other system parameters is found. The steady-state response shows a softening behavior of the system although the actual material non-linearity is of the hardening type.
