摘要
The therapeutic effects and tolerability of fluoxetine a selective serotonin inhibitor, and mianserin in geriatric depression were compared in a randomized, double-blind trial. Analysis of the clusters of the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) indicated that fluoxetine had an overall efficacy equivalent to that of mianserin but was more effective in the treatment of depressive forms with inhibition or psychomotor slowing down, in those associated with somatic anxiety, and in those characterized by anxiety, agitation, and impulsive behavior. Fluoxetine was well tolerated and had a low incidence of side effects, which might affect patient compliance. These findings suggest that the use of fluoxetine is particularly beneficial in senile depression.
