NEW ZEEMAN ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROSCOPY APPROACH FOR MERCURY ISOTOPE ANALYSIS

摘要
A comparison and critical evaluation of four Zeeman configurations (a light source or a cell is placed within a longitudinal or a transverse magnetic field) were made in this study. The effects of various parameters on the sensitivity, selectivity and precision of isotopic mercury analysis were calculated and compared with the experimental data. Due to elimination of the first order contribution of the mercury concentration to the analytical signal, our system employing a light source placed within a longitudinal magnetic field, yielded spectroscopic record precision of 0.1% when measuring the variation of mercury isotope distribution.
