INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON RATE OF GASTRIC JUICE SECRETION IN BROWN BULLHEAD ICTALURUS NEBULOSUS

摘要
Brown bullheads (Ictalurus nebulosus) were kept at various acclimation levels from 10[degree] to 30[degree]. C. Gastric secretion was evoked by inserting into the stomach a piece of sponge. The composition of the gastric juice was found to depend on the rate of secretion, the latter being temperature dependent. Gastric juice output was strongly affected by temperature deviations from the acclimation level. The rate of secretion showed compensation for temperature changes within the acclimation range between 20[degree] and 30[degree]C.
