摘要
This paper discusses requirements regarding the seismic design of solid waste landfills specified by US Federal regulations, waste landfill characteristics that influence selection of the methods of seismic analysis, and analytical procedures for evaluating seismic performance of lined waste fills. Seismic analytical procedures, including wave propagation, pseudostatic slope stability and seismically induced permanent deformation analyses, are reviewed regarding their applicability to lined waste fills. The results of one-dimensional wave propagation analyses are presented to illustrate the sensitivity of these analytical procedures to variations in the waste fill, local site conditions, and design seismic motions. Based on the results of this study, design procedures for evaluating seismic stability of waste landfills are proposed.
