ON THE EXISTENCE OF SURFACE-WAVES IN HALF-INFINITE ANISOTROPIC ELASTIC MEDIA WITH PIEZOELECTRIC AND PIEZOMAGNETIC PROPERTIES

摘要
An analysis based on a generalization of the many-dimensional surface wave formalism has yielded a number of general results for magneto-electroacoustic surface waves. For a mechanically clamped, electrically closed and magnetically open surface a new subsonic surface wave may come into existence when piezomagnetic and piezoelectric effects are present simultaneously. The case of a mechanically free surface as function of electrical and magnetic boundary conditions has been analyzed in detail. There are never more than two subsonic solutions. A table is constructed which allows us, on the basis of knowledge of the number of solutions for a particular case of boundary conditions, to make predictions and specific statements concerning the existence of surface wave solutions and their number for other boundary conditions.
