CORRELATION-DIMENSION CALCULATIONS FOR BROAD-BAND INTENSITY FLUCTUATIONS IN EMISSION FROM A HEAVILY SATURATED SOURCE OF AMPLIFIED SPONTANEOUS EMISSION

摘要
Broadband intensity fluctuations from a heavily saturated source of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) operating on the 3.51-1/4m transition of xenon show no evidence of a dynamical origin represented by a low-dimensional underlying chaotic attractor. The broadband coupled-mode fluctuations in ASE thus seem to be stochastic when contrasted with the recently reported deterministic nature of similar broadband fluctuations of single-mode lasers operating on the same transition. © 1990 The American Physical Society.
