EPR STUDIES OF A DINICKEL COMPLEX IN ITS II,II AND II,III OXIDATION-STATES

摘要
The complexes [Ni2(BPMP)(O2CR)2]+/2+ exhibit novel EPR signals which can serve as useful probes for putative dinickel sites in proteins. The antiferromagnetically coupled Ni(II)Ni(II) complex (J = -1 cm-1) has an integer-spin EPR signal at g = 8 arising from an excited S = 2 state. The Ni(II)Ni(II) complex exhibits a ground-state S = 3/2 EPR spectrum (g = 5.7, 2.0), suggestive of ferromagnetically coupled S = 1 Ni(II) and S = 1/2 Ni(III) centers.
