By using a modified Shirakawa catalyst Lugli et al. [1] have prepared f'dms which can be stretched up to 7 times their original length. This highly oriented material has been examined using various techniques. X-ray data [2] have shown an almost perfect alignment of the polymer fibers along the stretching direction. Polarized infrared spectra [3; 4] have provided an unambiguous assignment for the odd parity phonons of the undoped polymer both in its cis and trans configurations.
