摘要
This paper deals with a size-effect on an average ultimate shear stress on an adhesive-bonded rectangular or tubular lap joint, measured by an applied ultimate load needed to produce failure. The classification of the type of failures is given by: cohesive failure in the adherends; interfacial failure; cohesive failure in the adhesive layers; and adhesive failure. Four criteria of the failures are summarized in four formulae. The effects of geometric size and mechanical properties, of both the adherend and the adhesive, are also treated. © 1990.
