摘要
This paper describes the development and application of a three-dimensional, global-scale Eulerian model with an explicit description of cloud and chemical processes. The current configuration of the model calculates clear air and aqueous chemistry, cloud and rainwater scavenging and deposition, and long-range transport using meteorological data from a global circulation model. As an example of the model capabilities, results of simulations of the transport of sulfur from North America and Europe across the North Atlantic Ocean during 30-day periods in January and July are presented. The model predicted that sulfur associated with North American and European anthropogenic sources contributed about equally to atmospheric sulfur deposition in remote areas of the North Atlantic. Oceanic sources of DMS were predicted to contribute to sulfur deposition over some areas of the North Atlantic Ocean.
