摘要
Element based correlations are developed for the estimation of solid and liquid heat capacities (Cp) at 298 K. The correlations follow the general format, Cp= Σ CENE, where CEis a coefficient associated with each element in the compound and NE is the number of occurrences of the element in the compound. The developed correlations provide a suitable alternative when neither experimental data nor the parameters for more rigorous estimation methods exist. The average absolute errors for the correlations are 9.6% for solids and 8.8% for liquids. These results represent a substantial improvement to Kopp's Rule, the original element based correlation. © 1992, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
