摘要
Gel-immobilized cells of Zymomonas mobilis grown on high glucose media were examined by a freeze etching technique using transmission electron microscopy, and in a scanning electron microscope equipped with a Robinson detector. Both methods were found to be suitable for electron microscopy of high water gels. The study revealed that immobilized cells of Z. mobilis, which are facultative anaerobes, form microcolonies throughout the gel.
