IMPACTS OF ARTIFICIAL ACID-RAIN AND LIMING ON FRUITBODY PRODUCTION OF ECTOMYCORRHIZAL FUNGI

The effect of irrigation, acid irrigation and compensatory liming on the production of fruitbodies of mycorrhizal fungi, in a stand of Norway spruce 76 years-old, were examined. From the series of unreplicated plots it seems that the treatments when assessed, 4 years after initiation, had appreciably altered the patterns of fruitbody production of the ectomycorrhizal fungi. The two most prolific species Hygrophorus pustulatus and Russula ochroleuca are reduced by the applied acid and reduced much more than by the acid alone, but is less reduced then by lime alone. H. pustulatus, however, increased much more if acid and lime were applied together. Amanita crocea, A. vaginata, Russula cyanoxantha and R. olivacea only produced fruitbodies with added lime whereas Dermocybe cinnamomea only occurred in the absence of lime. © 1990.
