COMPARISON BETWEEN BIS AND TI K-XAS FOR TIO2 - EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL-STUDY

摘要
In this short paper we present the experimental BIS spectrum of rutile TiO2 as well as the corresponding theoretical analysis by means of a TiO6 cluster model; attention is given to the hybridization between the Ti 3d and 0 2p states. Our BIS result which gives a good visualization of the crystal field splitting of the Ti 3d bands is also consistent with our previous Ti K-XAS spectrum both experimentally and theoretically. Especially, in the interpretation of the latter absorption pre-edge it is necessary to take into account an additional phenomenon (absent from BIS), i.e. the ls core hole effect.
