The zero-order desorption spectrum is analysed using a desorption expression which was proposed by us within 'Transition State Theory'. The adsorbate system is modelled by the multilayer 1NN interacting lattice gas and which is treated within the Bragg-Williams approximation. The adsorbate chemical potential, which is independent of both temperature and coverage in the case of phase coexistence, causes the zero-order desorption spectrum. The results obtained with a constant pre-exponential factor agree well with the measured spectra of Cu, Ag, Au{single bond}W(110), Ru(001) and Ne{single bond}Ru(001). © 1990 Pergamon Press plc.
