A new set of challenges for libraries has appeared with the general and speedy emergence of networked information resources. It is clear that libraries on our campuses have a role to play, but not how that role will be shaped. Some evidence points in the direction of mixed models in which library staff enter into collaborative ventures with faculty and computing staff to create new approaches for teaching students about information technology as a tool and for incorporating it into classroom instruction. ''PowerUp!' is a program at Wake Forest University which has explored some effective ways to create new instructional opportunities.
