Study of metal coverage on alumina from group-6 metal carbonyl precursors

摘要
The metal loading on alumina surfaces from group-6 metal (Cr, Mo, W) carbonyls and their derivatives is determined by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy. The subcarbonyl species are generated by photochemical activation and monitored by Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy. No chemical adsorption takes place for the three systems studied. Nevertheless, in the presence of the ligand triphenylphosphine (PPh(3)) and the assistance of UV radiation, surface species chemically bonded to gamma-Al2O3 can be observed, achieving a maximum metal loading of 0.3% in the case of Cr and 0.4% in the case of W.
