MOTION OF SPHERES IN POWER LAW (VISCOINELASTIC) FLUIDS AT INTERMEDIATE REYNOLDS-NUMBERS - A UNIFIED APPROACH

摘要
The effect of sheart-tinning viscosity on the motion of spheres has been analysed in the intermediate Reynolds number regime (Re > 1). It is found that the Newtonian standard drag curve also provides a satisfactory representation of the available drag coefficient-Reynolds number data for power law fluids, provided a Reynolds number based on the power law model is used. This observation has been substantiated by presenting detailed comparisons with experimental results embracing wide ranges of kinematic (1 ≤ n ≤ 1.00). However, the developments represented herein are restricted to viscoinelastic fluids. © 1990.
