摘要
The adsorption of ethylene on Ni{111} at 110 K has been studied using reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy. This work provides the first high resolution vibrational data on this system. Adsorption at low temperatures produces the di-sigma complex, the RAIR spectra showing good agreement with the analogous vibrational data for the model organometallic compound [Os-2(CO)(8)(u(2)-eta(2)-(C2H4)]. IR data obtained at coverages theta < 0.25 are generally consistent with published EELS spectra for this species on a number of surfaces, and are interpreted in terms of a local C-2v site symmetry for the complex. In particular, we do not find evidence for significant non-planarity of the C2M2 skeleton.
