SPECTROSCOPY OF THE CATACLYSMIC VARIABLE UU-AQR

摘要
Time-resolved spectroscopic observations of the eclipsing cataclysmic variable UU Aqr are presented. The high-resolution data show that H-alpha has a strong, phase-dependent, asymmetric profile. The radial velocity curve, derived from the broad line wings, shows a semiamplitude of 120 km/s. Amplitude and phase for the "S-wave" are also derived. A mass ratio of 0.4 and a mass of 0.9M. for the white dwarf are obtained. The emission line behavior suggests that most of the H-alpha emission comes from an optically thin hot spot, while the accretion disk must be optically thick.
