摘要
The alloy chosen for cleavage plane determination was Al-2. 2wt. %Li-2. 7wt. %Cu-. 13%Wt. Zr containing 20 ppm Na. Cleavage has been identified as a fracture mode as a result of an unknown internal impurity. The cleavage occurs on the left brace 100 right brace and left brace 110 right brace planes but not on left brace 111 right brace even when stressed for left brace 111 right brace cleavage. It occurs as a result of an induced-crack propagation phenomenon rather than solid solution embrittlement. The tramp element Na has been indirectly identified as part of the embrittling agent. Potassium and Ti are possible contributors.
