PHONON DYNAMICS WITH A PHOTON-ECHO BOXCAR SCHEME

摘要
We describe a new form of phonon-induced coherence loss (PICOLO) using the two-pulse photon echo to study the dynamics of 29 cm-1 non-equilibrium phonons in ruby. The phonon dynamics is studied in the weakly bottlenecked, weakly trapped regime in the presence of a small (250 G) magnetic field. The phonon loss is governed by spatial diffusion modified by the presence of four phonon resonances (due to the Zeeman effect) with very different resonant phonon mean free paths. © 1990.
