SHORT-TERM TOXICITY OF METHOMYL IN RATS

摘要
Acetylcholinesterase (AchE) levels were determined in female rats following administration of subacute oral daily doses of Methomyl (1) at 0, 4.8, and 8 mg/kg/day for 33 days. Maximum inhibition of AchE in brain and blood was observed during the first hour of the intoxication period. Elevation of serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT) and serum alkaline phosphatase (SALP) are suggestive of a mild degree of hepatocellular injury. Serum creatinine level showed that (1) has a reversible effect on glomerular function while serum phosphate level showed that Methomyl caused defective tubular function with no dose relationship.
