CREEP AND STRUCTURAL RELAXATION IN PD40NI40P20 GLASS

摘要
The experimental results of creep in a Pd40Ni40P20 metallic glass over wide ranges of temperature and stress are presented and analyzed. The response to temperature change of the shear strain rate is complex. The apparent viscosity increases with time approximately linearly at all temperatures even at 0.98T(g). The activation volume, i.e. the product of the local transformation strain and the transformation volume has a strong temperature dependence when the temperature is close to T(g). The activation free energies and the number density of activable elements of shear transformations have a distribution. Results are discussed in terms of the transition state theory.
