摘要
We present broadband polarimetry at 3.6 μm of six stars reddened by the interstellar medium. The observed polarization is higher than expected when compared to the predictions of grain models incorporating traditional, large, astronomical silicates. An extra absorbing component, probably broadband in nature, must be present on the large silicate grains. This absorption component must show a significant increase from 2 to 4 μm.
