POINT-DEFECT INTERACTIONS AND VACANCY CLUSTER FORMATION IN ALKALI-HALIDE CRYSTALS

摘要
A molecular statics method is used to determine the energy and configuration peculiarities of vacancy-bivacancy interaction in KCl and CsI crystals. It is shown that vacancy cluster formation is connected with overcoming of an energy barrier during defect aggregation. Vacancy clusters are revealed by means of thermostimulated luminescence (TL): charge trapping causes high temperature TL peaks.
