A RELIABLE METHOD FOR THE AMINO-ACID-SEQUENCE DETERMINATION IN TETRAPEPTIDES - A STUDY ON THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE-ION TANDEM MASS-SPECTRA OF TETRAPEPTIDES

摘要
An unambiguous method for sequencing tetrapeptides based upon the combined use of fast atom bombardment mass, MI and collisional activation (CA) spectra of protonated and sodium-cationized peptide molecules is proposed. The positions in the peptide of non-C-terminal Ile/Leu are determined by 'W(n) + Na ions in the CA spectra of [M + Na]+. The second part of the paper is an evaluation of the fragmentations in the negative ion MI and CA spectra of deprotonated tetrapeptides.
