Electrical conductivity of LDPE films was studied with a temperature T (30-75-degrees-C), an electrical field F (6.3-22.5 MV m-1) and a pressure P (1-850 bar). An anomalous discharge current (ADC) was observed in the transient state after the application of a d.c. field, e.g. above 15.3 MV m-1 for 55-degrees-C. The anomalous current, depending on these parameters, was attributed to the existence of a space charge in the polymer.
