Measurements of the trapped flux (remanent magnetism) in polycrystalline YBa2Cu3O7 in the range 15-50 K show that at low applied field pulses, flux is trapped in the intergrain voids. A detailed measurement of a map of the remanent field over the whole surface of the sample shows that at very low fields flux is trapped in an asymmetrical and disordered way whereas when the maximum flux is trapped in the intergrain voids the trapped-flux distribution is symmetrical.
