STOPPING POWERS OF SOLID HYDROGEN, CARBON AND OXYGEN FOR 0.5-2.1 MEV/U LI-7, B-11, C-12, N-14 AND O-16 IONS

摘要
From our systematic studies of the slowing down of Li-7, B-11, C-12, N-14 and O-16 ions in polymer films, Mylar (C10H8O4), polycarbonate (C16H14O3) and CR-39 nuclear track detector material (C12H18O7), the stopping powers of solid hydrogen, carbon and oxygen have been extracted. The energies cover a range of 0.5-2.1 MeV/u. The validity of Bragg's additivity rule and the effects of the chemical state have been investigated. The elemental stopping power data have been compared to semiempirical model predictions. The model calculations show deviations from the experimental data, especially for Li-7 ions.
