摘要：

The importance of reference electrodes and their essential characteristics are summarised. Principles of operation and construction of common types are illustrated by considering the standard hydrogen-, the silver/silver chloride-, the calomel- and the copper/copper sulphate electrodes. Practical considerations for the successful use and care of reference electrodes are highlighted.
