STRUCTURE AND REACTIVITY OF BIMETALLIC CONVM+ CLUSTER IONS

摘要
The reaction of bimetallic Co(n)V(m)+ cluster ions, generated by laser vaporization, toward hydrogen was investigated by using a fast-flow reactor. Compared with pure Co(n)+ cluster ions, the reactivity of Co(n-1)V+ cluster ions exhibits a drastic decrease at n greater-than-or-equal-to 13 similar to that of neutral Co(n)V(m) clusters. The result can be explained in terms of their geometrical structure; at n greater-than-or-equal-to 13, the V atom is located at the center of the cluster and is surrounded by Co atoms.
