摘要
Investigations of the electromechanical properties of BTS‐ceramics show unusual strain‐field curves and extraordinary high weak‐signal electrostrictive R coefficients. In the process of selecting two examples (BTS‐10 and BTS‐13) it is illustrated that the strain‐field curves differ significantly from those of lead perovskites and in some cases exhibit remarkable linear regions. The nature of the electromechanical mechanism, however, is purely electrostrictive. This is explained by strong dielectric nonlinearities. Regarding the high‐signal electromechanical properties some qualitative difference between fine‐ and coarse‐grained material are discussed. The observed peculiarities of BTS offer several advantages concerning their application. Copyright © 1990 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA
