The power of the species chemical potentials approach to equilibrium calculations in multiple sublattice solutions has been demonstrated in the past but, in using this approach, the ideal solution approximation has invariably been used in its application to defects in solids. In the present paper the species chemical potential approach is used in conjunction with the bond energy model, thereby enabling concentrated solutions to be considered in the Bragg-Williams approximation. The approach is applicable to all types of solutions, including semiconductors, where electrons and holes must be considered as species. A direct relation is shown to exist between the parameters of the Compound Energy model and those of the bond energy model. Some advantages of the older bond energy model over the more recent Compound Energy model are discussed.
