OXYGEN-NICKEL BOND LENGTH IN NI(111)-P (2X2)O DETERMINED BY ELECTRON-ENERGY-LOSS FINE-STRUCTURE SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
We have measured the oxygen-nickel distance in Ni(111)-p(2×2)O using the electron-energy-loss fine-structure technique. Using the phase shift obtained on a heavily oxidized sample, we obtained 1.94±0.05. This value is in slight disagreement with that obtained in 1975 by low-energy electron diffraction by Marcus et al. and with that predicted more recently by a simple model. It is nearly equal to the sum of Slaters hard-sphere radii. © 1990 The American Physical Society.
