Compounds obtained through reaction of cis-A2Pt(1-MeT)2 (1-MeT = 1-methylthymine anion, C6H7N2O2; A = NH3 or A2 = bpy) and cis-[(NH3)2Pt(1-MeT)2Pt(NH3)2]2+ (head-head) with the Pt-containing anions [Pt(NH3)Cl3]- and [PtCl4]2- as well as [PdCl4]2- have been isolated and characterized. Two examples have been studied by X-ray analysis, cis-[(NH3)2Pt(1-MeT)2Pt(NH3)Cl][Pt(NH3)Cl3]•H2O (1) and cis-(NH3)2Pt(1-MeT)2PtCl2•3H2O (2). These two new compounds complete a series of three closely related dinuclear Pt complexes of +2, +1, and 0 charge, containing two bridging 1-MeT ligands in the head-head arrangement. 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pbca, with a = 27.801 (3) Å, b = 13.049 (2) Å, c = 14.110. © 1990, American Chemical Society.
