摘要
The influence of workpiece material properties on microcutting processes were investigated in order to clarify the chip formation mechanism. Experiments were performed either with a constant depth of cut or a continuously increasing method with tool advance. The results obtained are as follows: (a) When the depth of cut is kept less than a micron, the material crystal structure affects the result. Polycrystal material must be treated as discrete and heterogeneous. Single crystal material is continuous and homogeneous, but anisotropic characteristics must be taken into consideration. (b) The behavior at the beginning of chip formation was influenced by the anisotropy, and the surface integrity varied with crystal orientation.
