摘要
A review of the counts of natural populations in heterostyled species is presented. Counts of natural populations of heterodistylous Oldenlandia umbellata L., a member of the Rubiaceae, from 46 stations covering 8 districts in Andhra Pradesh, India, have been studied. Hyderabad district was extensively investigated. Populations of several places were counted more than once. Out of 18063 plants counted, 9246 were pins, 8807 thrums and 8 fertile and 2 infertile homostyles (all the homostyles are short styled). The homostyles were found at two localities but could not be found again. Most populations show isoplethy. The populations studied do not indicate any particular evolutionary trend. © 1968 Indian Academy of Sciences.
